He was a native of Germany, having been born in Munster, Westphalen, Germany, December 13, 1847, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Busch. When he was nine years of age his parents came to America and settled on a farm south this City.

Five sons, Henry and John of Burlington, William and Alfred of New Munster, and Edward of Brighton, and four daughters, survive Mr. Busch. The daughters are Mrs. Ben Ketterhagen, Mrs. Alfred Sobbe and Mrs. Charles McCourt of Burlington and Mrs. John Ketterhagen of Thorpe, Wisconsin. There are 46 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at St. Mary's church. Father Edward Kersting, pastor of St. Mary's was celebrant of the solemn requiem mass. Father Mauer was deacon, and Leonard Busch, a grandson of Mr. Busch, who is studying for the priesthood at St. Francis seminary, was sub-deacon.
