Edwin W. Kerkman, 70, formerly of Lake Geneva, late of Elkhorn, died Thursday afternoon of a heart attack at his home.
The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Helen) Kerkman, he was born on Dec, 18, 1912 in New
Munster.
He attended St. Alphonsus Grade School in New Munster and was a graduate of St. Mary High School in Burlington.
On July 16, 1941, in St. Alphonsus Church, he married Frances (Babe) Martin.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served three and one-half years with the First Cavalry Division with overseas duty in the Pacific Theatre. He was awarded the Purple Heart and was discharged as sergeant.
He had been employed as a salesman by the Studebaker Garage in Burlington and as maintenance man for Hevi-Duty Electric in Lake Geneva.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Elkhorn.
Surviving besides his wife are a brother, Albert, of New Munster, and a sister, Mrs. Sterling (Eleanor) Thompson, Kenosha.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
KERKMAN - Funeral services for the late Edwin W. Kerkman, of 423 Harmony Lane, Elkhorn, who passed away Thursday, March 10th, will be held at 10:30 Monday at the Siemke Funeral Home and mass at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Church, Elkhorn. Interment will be in the Oakhill Cemetery, Lake Geneva. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 P.M. & 7-9 P.M. Sunday Vigil service will be at 7:30 P.M.
