Kristopher J. Richter, 17, a junior at Rock Valley Public High School, died Monday, February 21, 1994, at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, due to injuries sustained from a single-car accident northwest of Inwood, Iowa.
Kristopher Richter was born August 6, 1976, in Sheldon, Iowa. He was currently a junior at Rock Valley Community High School. He worked at the Rock Valley Pizza Hut and was a lifeguard at the Rock Valley swimming pool.
He was a former member of the wrestling and track teams. He was a member of the football team, the honor roll and Spanish Club. He was a waiter at the junior-senior prom.
Survivors include his parents, Stephen and Joyce Richter of Rock Valley; two brothers: Patrick and Jamie, both of Rock Valley; and his grandparents: Robert and Jane Richter and Jake and Margaret Teunissen, all of Rock Valley.
Services were held Thursday, February 24, in St Mary's Catholic Church in Rock Valley with burial in the church cemetery, uner the direction of Porter Funeral Home. The Rev. Father Donald R. Smith officiated.
Visitation was held Wednesday at Porter Funeral Home followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church.
Honorary Pallbearers were Andy Ranschau and Cody Tiedeman. Pallbearers include Brad Jensen, Matt Suler, Mike Rohde, Chad Van Zee, Scott Kempema, Jesse Smith, Jon Wallenburg and Ryan Oostra.
