WOODSTOCK
Hubert M. Evans, 91, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1992, at Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 3, 1900, in Woodstock, the son of the late Mathias and Anna (McCauley) Evans. On May 24, 1947, in Elgin, he married Helen L. Elbert, who survives.
Mr. Evans served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was owner and operator of the H.M. Evans Air Conditioning and Refrigeration business in Woodstock for more than 35 years. He retired in 1985.
Mr. Evans was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a charter member of the Knights of Columbus council No. 776 and a fourth degree member of the council for more than 50 years; and member of American Legion Post 412 in Woodstock.
Besides his wife, Helen, of Woodstock, Mr. Evans is survived by a son, Elbert "Al" (Jackie) Evans and a grandson, Matthew G. Evans, all of Grand Prairie, Texas; a brother, Arthur (Eleanor) Evans of Morgan Hill, Calif.; three nieces, Mary Ellen (Joe) Burg of Woodstock, Pat Hall of San Jose, Calif., and Kathy (Jeff) Parker of Gilroy, Calif.; and a nephew, Robert (Susie) Evans of Champaign.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and Phillip Evans.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3. at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home in Woodstock, with a liturgical wake service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Woodstock, with the Rev. Al F. Harte officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Woodstock.
