Theodore F. "Ted" Matt, born Oct. 19, 1924, to the late Frederick John Matt and Regina Mary Schaeffer found eternal peace on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at the age of 84 years.
Ted graduated from Marquette High School and then went on to graduate from Marquette Law School in 1948. In 1950, he moved onto a farm in Oconomowoc. Ted married the former Ruth Arlene Richter in 1955.
He had many hobbies including beef and poultry husbandry, inland sailing, boat building, trap shooting, gardening, and loved pets.
In 1949, 1952, 1953, and 1954, Ted was the WYA C-scow Champion with his brother, Bill. He served on the Oconomowoc Town Board, Waukesha County Board of Supervisors, Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, and was on the Waukesha County Park and Planning Commission.
Ted was a member of St. Catherine's of Alexandria Parish in Mapleton, where he served on the parish counsel, sang in the choir and was a lector.
Ted was a loving husband of 54 years to Ruth; beloved father of Marnie A. Matt and Theodore R. (Cindi) Matt; and cherished grandfather of Genna, Alex, and Emily Matt. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 22, 2009, at ST. CATHERINE'S OF ALEXANDRIA CATHOLIC CHURCH. W359 N8512 Brown St., Oconomowoc, from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m.
