Age 100. Passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 1993, at the Mt. Carmel Care Center in Burlington. She was born in the town of Burlington on the old John Busch Farm on Aug. 3, 1893, the last surviving member 11 children born to John and Mary (nee: Richter) Busch. She moved with her family to the city of Burlington in 1911. She married Charles L. McCourt in St. Mary's Catholic Church on June 1, 1920. Mr. McCourt preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1979. For seven years prior to her marriage, she was a secretary for the Jacob Wein Clothing Store and later worked as a homemaker. She had been a member St. Mary's Catholic Church since 1911, the Ladies Guild, Charter Member of Daughters of Isabella, Charter Member of Ross-Wilcox American legion Post No. 79 Auxiliary, and member of St. Monica's Mission Club.
She is survived by: two daughters, Rosemary (George) Granger Burlington, and Kathleen (Dick) McCarthy of Gleason, Wis.; three sons, James (Jane) McCourt, Burlington, Jack (Marilyn) McCourt, Burlington, and Art (Sue) McCourt, New Berlin; 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, 2 step granddaughters, and one step great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandsons, and 10 brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1993, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. David Reith officiating. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at McCarthy-Koenig Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Memorials to St. Mary's Catholic Church have been suggested.
