Clara Cecelia (Laska) Alm was born November 21, 1920 to Vincent and Anna (Breyen) Laska in Pine Lake Township, Minnesota where she grew up and attended school. On May 16, 1942 she married Ernest C. Alm of Hinckley.
The couple resided on a farm near Finlayson for nearly 45 years. They owned and operated a grocery store in Finlayson for several years. Clara was a member of the Finlayson Commercial Club and was honored this past 4th of July for being a founding member of the annual 4th of July activities. For 60 years, she was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church where she served her Lord in many different capacities.
Clara died Monday, September 26, 2005 at St. Mary’s Hospice in Duluth, Minnesota. She was 84 years old.
Preceding Clara in death were her husband, Ernest; son Roger; daughter, Ann Marie; brothers, Joseph Laska and Francis Laska; sister, Alice Breska; and grandson, Lukas Alm. Clara is survived by two sons, Lawrence (Betty) of Finlayson and Michael (Shirley) of Hastings; three daughters, Marjorie Haefner of Finlayson, Mary (Dwayne) Nelson of Brooklyn Center and Kathleen (Keith) Vincent of Hugo; two brothers, Stanley Laska of Hayward, Wisconsin and Raymond Laska of Finlayson; 24 grandchildren; and 33 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Clara were held on Friday, September 30, 2005 at Peace Lutheran Church in Finlayson. Pastor Matthew Vrudny officiated.
Arrangements were made by Hansen-Mankie Funeral Home in Sandstone.
