Funeral services for Alma O. Laska, 77, of Coon Rapids were held Friday, March 22, 2002, 11 a.m. at Sandstone United Church of Christ with Rev. Eric Nordgren officiating. Music was provided by Lucy Kester as soloist, and Virginia Schaefer, organist. Active pallbearers were Jacob W. Lavell, Brandon J. Heilman, David J. Perkins, Chad L. Valland, Troy L. Schoenrock and Marc R. Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Callie P. Laska, Nicholas C. Huffman, Erin D. Perkins, Rylie H. Perkins, Reece A. Valland, Keaton J. Schoenrock and Madeline R. Smith. Interment was in Spring Park Cemetery, Sandstone. Arrangements by Hansen's North Pine Funeral Home, Sandstone.

Alma Ottomine Lund was born in Carroll, Nebraska on Feb. 17, 1925 to Jens and Olga Lund. The family moved to Askov, MN where Alma spent her childhood. Alma married Joe Laska in 1952 and together they raised eight children. Alma loved to read and kept up on current events. One of her proudest moments was in 1992, when at the age of 67, she achieved her lifelong goal of graduating from high school. Music was also an important part of her life and she loved to sing and play guitar with her family and friends. Alma passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at Park River Estates Care Center in Coon Rapids. She had attained the age of 77 years, 1 month and 2 days.

Alma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph V.; son, Steven; brothers, William, Francis, Leo and Alvin; sisters, Marianne and Ramona; grandchildren, Janis, Alisia, Daniel and Kendra. She is survived by her children, Ronelie (Ronald) Greedy, Jerry (Victoria) Laska, Toni (John) Nieswaag, Elaine (John) Andreasen, Thomas (Robin) Laska, Julie Lavell, David Laska, Jana (Steve Cottrill) Laska; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters and brother, Irene Mattson, Joyce Reed, Vernon Lund; and many nieces and nephews. Blessed be her memory.

I do not know what happened to Walter...he could have died, they could have gotten divorced...I just do not know. In any event, Alma married Joseph Laska 4 Oct 1952. Joseph had one child from his marriage to Senia, Alma had three children from her marriage to Walter, and then they had 4 children together.
