Funeral services for George F. Breska, 71 of Finlayson were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 1988 from the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Finlayson. Fr. Joseph Menker, OMI officiated. The soloist was Judy Finifrock, accompanied by Ruth Boysen. The casket bearers were: Gary Beck, Vern Larson, Dan Onofrey, Jim Gilpin, Dennis Liebelt and Charles Scott. Interment held at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
George Frank Breska was born on April 1, 1917 in Bremen Twp. and grew up in that area. On June 9, 1945 George married Alice Laska in Willow River. Following their marriage they farmed near Denham for several years. In 1956 George and Alice moved to Finlayson where they owned and operated a restaurant for many years. Most recently George had worked as a custodian at the General Andrews Rest Area. Alice died on May 13, 1984. George was a patient at the Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake when he died on Monday, September 19, 1988. He had been a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Western Fraternal Lodge in Willow River.
He is survived by a son, James of Finlayson; two daughters, Susan Breska of Finlayson and Patricia (Mrs. Mark) Jeffers of Barnum; three sisters, Helen (Mrs. Gust) Urianek of Willow River, Marie Nelson of Minneapolis and Phyllis Brabec of Carlton and one granddaughter, Teresa. He was preceded in death by a brother, James and a sister, Beatrice.
