This community was saddened Tuesday when word was received of the death of Mrs. Rose Hellstern at St. Joseph's hospital in Sioux City, following an illness of about five weeks' duration. She was 75, and had been a resident here for 56 years.
Rose Kramer was born in West Phalia, Mich., December 15, 1867 where her family resided until they moved to Loretta, Tenn. Later, she moved to Rock Valley where she had lived ever since. On February 13, 1889 she was married here to the late Thomas Hellstern. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic church, belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Altar Society.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Ben Kessler, Miss Alberta Hellstern, Mrs. Dan Murray, and Mrs. Gordon Wilson, all of Sioux City : Mrs. Charles Aldrich of Hammond, Mont; two sons, Edward of Rock Valley add William of Nanpa, Idaho; as well as a brother, William Kramer of St. Henry, Ohio, 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The body was brought here Wednesday from Manning's funeral home in Sioux City. Funeral services are to be held this Friday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic church, Rev. Father McGoey officiating. Pallbearers are: John K[????]s, John Fitzgerald, C.J. Schoeder, E.J. Scanlan, F.T. McGill and James Walpole.
