Philomena A Gelhaus, 84, Rt 1, St Henry, died at 4:45 pm Monday at her home. Death was due to complications following an illness of six years.
She was born Nov 8. 1889, in Loretto, Tenn, the daughter of William and Mary (Pagel) Kramer. She married Henry Gelhaus June 8, 1910, in St Henry, and he died in 1943.
She is survived by seven children, Herbert, Cincinnati, Ed, Coldwater, Mrs. Adrian (Lucille) Ramsey, Hartford City, Ind; Norbert, Sidney; Ralph, at home; and Mrs. Ray (Mary) Herb and Mrs. James (Gertrude) Schabe, both of Fort Wayne, 10 brothers and sisters, Mrs. Louis (Elizabeth) Uhlenhake, Delphos; Jacob, Coldwater; John, New Weston; Mrs. Edwin (Margaret) Knapke, R 1, St Henry; Mrs. Julius (Gertrude) Wilker, Rt 5, Celina; Carl, Fort Wayne; Mrs. Leonard (Ann) Klosterman, Edgerton; the Rev Herbert Kramer, Hannibal, Mo; Joe, Erie, Pa; and Catherine, Cleveland; 32 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Gelhaus was preceded in death by one daughter.
She was a member of St Henry Catholic Church and the Christian Mother's Sodality.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Thursday at St Henry Church, the Rev Herbert Kramer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Hogenkamp's Funeral Home, St Henry, from 2-9 pm Wednesday.
