Joseph E. Kramer, 90, 3141 Oakdale Parkway, Millcreek Township, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Pleasant Ridge Manor West, Fairview Township.
He was born Nov. 19, 1910, in St. Henry, Ohio, son of the late William and Mary Pagel Kramer.
He served as an apprentice for the General Electric Co. plant in Fort Wayne, Ind., and was transferred to the Erie plant in 1955. He worked as a methods specialist, retiring in 1970 after 43 years, then worked another 12 years for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
He was a founding member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Timothy Council 4121, and was active with the Democratic Party.
He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Florence P. Kramer; six brothers; six sisters; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Pequignot Kramer, whom he married Oct. 9, 1937; four daughters, Joan McCadden and her husband, Robert, of Cato, N.Y., Barbara Brozich and her husband, Ronald, of Beaver Falls, Martha Yeager and her husband, Donald, of Washington, Pa., and Julie Dell and her husband, Tim, of Edinboro; two sons, Thomas Kramer of Baltimore and Gregory Kramer and his wife, Candace, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Kathryn Kramer of Euclid, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Burton West Lake Funeral Home, 3816 West Lake Road, Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. A service will be held there Monday at 9:30 a.m., followed at 10 by Mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 2801 W. Sixth St., officiated by Monsignor Robert Brugger.
Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
