Funeral services for Christine Herke, 94, were held Wednesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church here.
Rev. Edward Murray officiated assisted by Rev. Mr. J.R. Hogan. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Serving as Casket Bearers were Lucian Longnecker, Ezra Enderlin, Robert Peiffer, Don Farrell, John G. Meyer and Don McCartan.
Mrs. Herke died Sunday evening at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge following a short illness.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Ellerbrock, Christine was born July 24, 1893 in Auburn. She attended school there and taught in Fonda area country schools for several years. She was married to Herb Herke in Auburn on September 7, 1921.
The couple farmed northwest of Fonda for many years before retiring and moving to Fonda. Mr. Herke preceded her in death in September, 1987. For the past year Christine was a resident of the Fonda Care Center.
Survivors include sons, Bill, Baton Rouge, La., and Jack, Denver, Colo; five grandchildren; and sister,
Joesephine Ellerbrock [Sister Mary Edith], St. Louis, Mo.
