A funeral Mass will be held for Ann Caroline Elpert at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Cronin officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Elpert, 85, a longtime Rochester homemaker, died Sunday (May 17, 1998) at Aspen Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Ann Caroline Scholbrock was born Sept. 3, 1912, in Festina, Iowa. On Sept. 29, 1935, she married Irvin C. Elpert at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Simpson and they lived in Rochester all their married lives. Her husband was employed at Mayo Clinic. He died March 31, 1983. Mrs. Elpert was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and enjoyed flowers, sewing and cooking.
Survivors include two sons, Norman and Dwayn, both of Rochester; four daughters, Vivian Greening of Hastings, Minn., and Karen (Mrs. James) Zahradnik, Gayle (Mrs. Timothy) Lowrie and Cheryl (Mrs. Kevin) Kelly, all of Rochester; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clem and Albert Scholbrock, both of Elma, Iowa; and a sister, Louise Riecks of Elma. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a granddaughter, three sisters and three brothers.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Macken Funeral Home and an hour before the service Thursday at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
