Richard (Red) Hageman, age 78 of Calmar, died Thursday Aug 5, 2004 at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, after a long illness.
Memorial Mass was Saturday, Aug 7 at 10 a.m. St. Aloysius Church in Calmar with Rev Donald Hawes officiating.
Alan Sensor was organist and the St. Aloysius Choir provided music.
Lector was Dan Hageman.
Honorary Casketbearers were members of the Calmar Fire Department.
Interment was in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Calmar, Schluter - Balik Funeral Home-French Chapel in Calmar was in charge of arrangements.
Richard Fred Hageman was born Oct 31, 1925 to Felix and Monica (Holthaus) Hageman on the family farm near Calmar.
He was baptized, confirmed and received his education at St. Aloysius in Calmar.
Richard Hageman married Clara Mae (Scholbrock) Baures, on Nov 25, 1964 at Prairie du Chien, Wis.
He was employed by the City of Calmar as maintenance man and as the policeman, and then he ran the garbage collection in Calmar and after that owned the Friendly Tap in Calmar.
Later, due to poor health, he sold the business.
Richard Hageman was a lifetime member of St. Aloysius Church and a dedicated member of the Calmar Fire Department.
He enjoyed being with his family, playing Santa Claus, gardening, playing cards, calling square dances, and singing old time music to the juke box.
Survivors are a stepdaughter Teresa (Baures) Naley of Chester, Iowa, two step-grandsons, one sister Irene Schmitz of Ossian and one brother Melvin (Helen) Hageman of Calmar and many nieces and nephews.
Richard (Red) Hageman was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Clara Mae in 1981, three brothers Carl, Julius and Gustave Hageman, and three nephews.
