Funeral services for Carl Baumler, 77, retired carpenter and farmer, was held at St. Luke's Catholic church in St. Lucas Thursday morning, March 11, with the Rt. Rev Msgr. Francis L. Schuh officiating at the solemn requiem high mass. Rev. Gerald Steiert, Calmar, was deacon and Rev. James Duster was sub deacon. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were his nephews, Cleon and Dennis Reicks, Cresco; Eligius Franzen, Waterloo; Herbert Scholbrock, West Union; Marvin Scholbrock, New Hampton, and John Scholbrock, Festina.
Carl Baumler, son of Martin and Barbara Baumler was born at Miller, South Dakota, April 1, 1887. He was married to Mathilda Scholbrock at Festina on May 10, 1921 and they spent their entire married life in the St. Lucas raea.
Survivors are his wife, Mathilda; six sons and three daughters, Reynold and Melvin Baumler, West Union; Cyril Baumler, Calmar; Neil Baumler and Gerald Baumler, Waucoma; Lou Ann, Mrs. Harlan Throndson, Lawler, Irenus Baumler, Fort Atkinson; Colleen, Mrs. Gerald Guenther, Waukon, and Norma, Mrs. Edward Wurzer, West Union, 30 grandchildren, his step mother, Elizabeth; three brothers and five sisters.
Preceding him in death was a son, Donald, who died in infancy.
