WAUCOMA
Gerald Joseph Baumler, 83, of Waucoma, died Saturday, Dec. 6, at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton.
He was born Aug. 17, 1931, on the Baumler family farm in rural Fayette County, son of Carl and Mathilda Scholbrock Baumler. On Sept. 10, 1958, he married Lois Bouska at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waucoma.
Gerald received his education at St. Luke's School, St. Lucas, and served in the U.S. Army. He then worked at the sawmill with his father. He farmed outside of Waucoma where he also ran his construction business, Baumler Construction.
Survived by: his wife; eight daughters, Kathy (Pat) Osmonson of Rochester, Minn., Susan (Mike) Doyle of Cedar Falls, Margaret (Paul) Havel of Calmar, Bernice (Dale) Nieman of Germantown, Wis., Betty (Scott) Roberts of Ottumwa, Alice (Gus) Henrici of Grimes, Laurie (Ron) Selken of Council Bluffs and Kim (Mark) Moeller of Valley, Neb.; a son, Steven (Karla) of Waucoma; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, LouAnn Throndson of Lawler, and Colleen Guenther and Norma (Edward) Wurzer, both of West Union; and a sister-in-law, Rita Baumler of West Union.
Preceded in death by: his parents; six brothers, Reynold, Donald, Melvin, Cyril, Neil and Irenus Baumler.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waucoma, with burial in the church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Waucoma American Legion. Visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with a 3 p.m. combined Rosary Society and Knights of Columbus rosary and a 7 p.m. parish Scripture service. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church. Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home, Waucoma, is in charge of arrangements.
