Funeral services for Debra C Canfield was held Monday, April 17, 2000 at the Heritage United Methodist Church, Waverly, with Pastor Nathan N. Frazee as the officiate. Burial was in the Harlington Cemetery, Waverly.
Canfield, 43, of Waverly, died at her home on Thursday, April 13, 2000.
Deb was born on March 28, 1957, the daughter of Neil and Lorraine (Schmitt) Baumler of Waucoma, IA. She attended and graduated from the Turkey Valley High School, Jackson Junction, in 1975. Deb then enrolled at Hawkeye Technical College in Waterloo where she received her degree as a Medical Lab technician in 1977. She then took a position in the lab at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, and on July l, 1978, she was united in marriage to Dennis Canfield in Oelwein. In 1984 they moved to Cedar Rapids where she was a full time mom. In 1986 the couple moved to Altoona, and in 1992 moved to Runnells. In October of 1999 they moved to Waverly and Deb worked for Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo for a short time before going to work in the lab at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, where she was currently employed.
Deb was a member of the Newcomers Club, Waverly, had served as a 4-H Leader while living in Runnells, and was a member of the Lake Country Cycle Club, Ankeny. She enjoyed collecting candles, collecting baskets, and reading, but her greatest passion was bicycling, having been a 12 year veteran of RAGBRAI.
Deb is survived by her husband, Dennis, Waverly; her three children, Darcy, Jon and Ryan all of Waverly; her mother, Lorriane Baumler, Waucoma; four brothers, Conrad Baumler and his wife Jeannette, Cedar Rapids, Keith Baumler and his wife Lisa, Hawkeye, Brian Baumler, Huston, TX, Brad Baumler and his wife Mary Lynn, Urbandale; and by three sisters, Annette Hyman and her husband Don, Fort Dodge, Bonnie Rowland and her husband David, Apple Valley, MN, Joyce Dose and her husband Dale, Amherst, WI.
Deb was preceded in death by her father, Neil, in May of 1975.
