Frances Scholbrock, 90, died Wednesday evening, January 6 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a brief illness.
Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 9 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Hampton, with Father Donald Bakewell officiating. LaVern Roths served as Eucharistic Minister; Diane Ball was lector; Marilee and Heather Mai placed the pall and were gift bearers. Music was furnished by St. Mary's Choir with Ann Bennett as organist.
Casket bearers were Kurt Scholbrock, Joseph Scholbrock, Kraig Scholbrock, Travis Mai, Jason Mai and Donald Mai, Jr. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Frances was born August 16, 1902 at St. Lucas, the daughter Of Martin and Elizabeth (Bruening) Baumler. She attended St. Luke's schools and was united in marriage to Joseph Scholbrock in 1924. They farmed in the Lawler and New Hampton areas. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include five sons, Marvin, New Hampton, Rueben, Cedar Rapids, Syl, Marion, Verlyn and Daniel, Palo; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Johanna Franzen, West Union.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph in 1984; five brothers, Martin, Vince, Carl, John and Ray Baumler; six sisters, Mary Reicks, Lizzie Giberson, Margaret Carolan, Anna Lensing, Teresa Bruening and Helen Krieger.
Visitation was held on Friday at Larkin-Martin Funeral Home with a Rosary Society rosary at 4 p.m. and parish scripture at 7:30 p.m.
