Lavern H. Kipp, 57, of 110 East Bennington Road, Waterloo, died of cancer at his home Saturday morning, Feb. 14, 1987. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1987 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waverly. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Gaul and Rev. Marvin Salz conducted the services. Military rites conducted by Acher-Matthias Post 653 American Legion of Denver.
The Cleveland Funeral Home of Denver was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Leon Kipp, Danny Kipp, Dale Kipp, Darwin Frana, Darryl Frana and Tom Brettman.
Lavern H. Kipp was born May 3, 1929 in Festina, IA., the son of John and Linda (Scholbrock) Kipp. He attended St. Mary's School in Festina. He was united in marriage to Antonia Wurzer on Feb. 20, 1951. He was a Veteran Of the Korean Conflict and served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1951 to 1952. He was the owner of Vern Kipp Trucking Inc., working as an independent trucker.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Kipp, one brother and one sister.
Survivors include his wife; Antonia, a son John of Waterloo, three daughters, Mrs. Linda Roth of Rochester, MN., Mrs. Lanette Austin of Yale, and Mrs. Laureen Jellema of Mason City, five grandchildren, his mother, Linda Kipp of Ossian, a brother, Donald Kipp and a sister, Elaine Frana, both of Festina.
