Dorothy P. Scholbrock, 88, died Wednesday, March 25 at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waucoma, with Rev. Raphael Ludwig as celebrant. Bruce Kuennen was lector, Laurie Scholbrock was cross bearer and Mass servers were Josh Gossling, Ryan Caddell and Michael Hoey.

Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waucoma, with Wesley Scholbrock, Lloyd Kuennen, John Kuennen, Scott Kuennen, Ivan Kuennen and Mark Kuennen as pall bearers.

Visitation was Friday at the Waucoma Funeral Chapel with a 3 p.m. Rosary Society Rosary, 4 p.m. C. D. of A. Rosary and 7:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union, was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Philomena Blong, daughter of John and Theresa (Bodensteiner) Blong, was born March 28, 1909 at St. Lucas. Her early years were spent on a farm near St. Lucas where she attended grade school and she spent many years working for families as a hired girl. On Oct. 15, 1940, Dorothy was united in marriage with Albert Scholbrock and they lived in Rochester, MN until 1949, when they moved to a farm near Waucoma, retiring to Waucoma in 1974. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. In May 1994 she became a resident of the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include her husband, Albert, Waucoma; one daughter, Darlene (Mrs. Francis) Kuennen, Waucoma; two sons, Gerald, Sparta, NC and Kenneth and wife, Pat, Waucoma; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Lansing and Hilda Lechtenberg, both of Ossian.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Frank and Paul Blong; two sisters, Lizzie Bruening and Edwina Mihm.
