Francis Arnold Kuennen of Waucoma died Jan. 3, at his home as result of a fall. Funeral mass was held on Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waucoma.
Francis Arnold Kuennen, son of Frank and Elizabeth (Meyer) Kuennen was born July 1, 1939 at St. Lucas. He attended St. Lukes grade school and high school. He began farming in 1960.
Sept. 3, 1962 Francis married Darlene Scholbrock at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waucoma. The couple had nine children. Francis was a sales representative for Na-Churs Fertilizer Company. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, financial secretary for the Knights of Columbus, was President of the parish council and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards and visiting with friends and family. He was an avid fan of Turkey Valley sports, especially wrestling and football.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene; his nine children, and ten grandchildren; Mike (Elizabeth) Kuennen, Nevada; John (Jo) Kuennen, Cedar Rapids; Ivan (Amy) Kuennen, West Des Moines; Mark Kuennen, Ames; Keith (Christa) Kuennen, West Des Moines; Bruce (Anne) Kuennen, Wilmington, DE; Scott Kuennen, Kansas City, MO, Julie Kuennen, Kansas City, KS; and Lloyd (Nicole) Kuennen, Grand Rapids, MI; six brothers, Norbert (Delores) Kuennen, St. Lucas; Luke Kuennen, New Hampton; Neil (Irma) Kuennen, Waucoma; Henry (Arlene) Kuennen, Cresco; Greg (Rosemary) Kuennen, Waucoma; Martin (Carol) Kuennen, St. Lucas; five sisters, Mary Ann (Jim) Kuhn, Lime Springs; Helen Kuhn-Williams (Fred), Mabel, MN: Laura Lukes, Protivin, Margaret (Gerald) Kuennen, Waucoma and Kathleen (Dennis) Russler, Burnsville, MN and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
