James F. O'Meara, a former resident of Davenport, died Wednesday at his home in St. Paul, Minn., according to advices received here by his brother-in-law, W. L. Purcell, 110 West Sixth street. Death, resulting from valvular leakage of the heart, terminated an illness of five months duration.
In former years Mr. O'Meara was a well known conductor here on the C., M. & St. P. railroad. He was born on a farm in Clinton county, 60 years ago, and was a nephew of the late T. J. O'Meara. In 1901 he was united in marriage to Josephine Purcell of Davenport.
Many years ago Mr. O'Meara moved to St. Paul and became a conductor on the Northern Pacific railroad. At the time of death he was secretary of the St. Paul Grain Exchange.
Mr. O'Meara was a man of pleasing personality, strong character and unswerving integrity. He leaves a host of friends who will sincerely mourn his passing.
Surviving are the widow and one daughter, Janet O'Meara. Funeral services and burial will take place in. St. Paul Saturday morning.
