Solemn Requiem High Mass was held in the chapel of St. Joseph's College this morning for the repose of the soul of Rev. Sister Mary Victorine, whose death occurred early Friday morning in St. Joseph's Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Very Rev. C. G. Adams was celebrant of the Mass, assisted by Rev. R. Carroll and Rev. J. Roenicke. The Libera was sung and a sermon was given by Most Rev. R. H. Dignan, D.D., bishop of the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie. Rev. F. P. Lawless and Rev. S. Devine assisted in the sanctuary, and the choir of the Sisters of St. Joseph sang.
Rev. Sister Victorine was born near Ottawa, the former Sarah Mears, and she entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in Peterboro in 1915. She spent several years of her religious life in this diocese. Surviving her are two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Kelly, Corkery, Ont., and Miss Nellie Mears, Stittsville, Ont.
Pall-bearers at the funeral were: J. J. Saya, J. Roche, W. T. Traynor, W. Cavanaugh, M. Mulligan and John Bourke.
