Haas-Smith Wedding
At St. Mary's church, on Monday morning of this week, occurred the wedding of Miss Ada Haas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Haas of Rock Valley and Vincent Smith, son of James Smith of Alvord. The ceremony took place at 7:30 o'clock with Rev. Foerster officiating. The bride was beautifully attired in a gown of rust color and wore a shoulder corsage of Coolidge roses. The groom wore a dark grey business suit. Miss Margaret Keegan, maid of honor, wore a dark green costume and also wore a shoulder corsage of roses. Joe Haas served as best man. The wedding breakfast was served at the bride's home with Mrs. C.J. Schoeder and Miss Lucille Akin as waitresses. The young couple left for a short visit at Algona, Ia., before settling in their new home near Alvord. They have best wishes of many friends for a life of happiness and prosperity.

Services held for Vincent Smith
Vincent Smith, 56, Alvord died Tuesday morning in Merrill Memorial hospital at Rock Rapids after a brief illness.
Mr Smith was born July 11, 1907 in Alvord. He married Ada Haas January 27, 1936 in Alvord.
Survivors include the widow; three sons, Robert of Larchwood, William of Minneapolis, and James at home; a daughter; Margaret, at home; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart church at Alvord. Rev Dale Koster officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.
A rosary was recited at 8.p.m. Wednesday at the Porter funeral home in Rock Valley.
