Funeral services for Walter Bird, age 72 years, a former resident of Dover, were held Monday afternoon at Rochester, where he has lived in the village for several years. Interment was made in the Scottish Settlement cemetery in Dover.
His death came suddenly Thursday evening at the home of his son, Clarence, with whom he had been visiting. He had taken part in the day's work and, also, helped with the chores. He was in the best of health relatives had believed and while reading the newspaper at 9:45 p. m., he suddenly passed away.
Medical aid was immediately summoned and Dr. Malone of Waterford and Dr. Newell of Burlington stated the cause was a heart attack.
Surviving are his three children, James, who lives at Waukesha, Clarence on the farm at Rochester and Mrs. Edward Noble, a resident of Sunnyside.
Walter Bird was born and raised in Dover on April 15th, 1903. He married Margaret McCourt, who preceeded him in death Oct. 1913.
Walter Bird was widely known in the county and the news of his passing will be read with regret by a multitude of friends.
