John A. Schwartz, 84, of Walworth, Wis., formerly of Kenosha, Wis., died, Sunday Nov. 28, 2010, at his home. John Albert Schwartz was born in Ashipon, Wis., on July 4, 1926, the son of the late John E. and Lydia M. (Pankow) Schwartz. He had worked for American Motors and then for Ladish Company in Kenosha. On June 26, 1954, in Burlington, Wis., he was united in marriage to the former Judith Bird. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving with the United States Army.
John was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lake Geneva, Wis., and a former member of Friedens Lutheran Church in Kenosha. He was a member of American Legion Post #552 in Somers, Wis., and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He was an avid fisherman enjoying many happy hours fishing with family and friends. He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Cubs.
John is survived by, Judith, his wife of 56 years; seven children, Stephen (Theresa) Schwartz of Kenosha, Wis., Kathleen (Harry) Dziczek of Burton, Mich., Karen (David) Rawson of Hatfield, Wis., Kenneth (Gayle) Schwartz of Yakima, Wash., David (Kelly) Schwartz of Lake Geneva, Wis., Judith Schwartz of Williams Bay, Wis., and Doreen (Richard) Nevelier of Walworth, Wis.; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers Melvin Schwartz of Bristol, Wis., and Clifford Schwartz of Morton Grove, Ill.; and a sister Joan (James) Campbell in California. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson Korbin Belott.
Services for John will be held Friday Dec. 3; 2010, 11 a.m., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1101 Logan St. in Lake Geneva, WI; Pastor Mark Kaesmeyer will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park in Kenosha, WI. The Schwartz family will receive visitors Thursday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, 800 Park Dr., Lake Geneva, WI and Friday in church after 10 a.m. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in John's name to: First Evangelical Lutheran Church for debt retirement or school assistant fund.
