Curtis R. Gonsky, 70, died Monday, September 5, 2005, at Mount Carmel Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Burlington.
He was born August 28, 1935, in Racine County, to Walter and Violet (nee: Blum) Gonsky. He spent his early life in Yorkville. On November 12, 1960, in St. John's Lutheran Church, he was united in marriage to Sandra Bird. Following marriage, they resided in Dover and Burlington Township. Curtis had been a resident of the Town of Burlington for the past 15 years.
Curtis served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a Control Operator for Wisconsin Electric Power Company in Oak Creek, retiring in 1994. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He loved hunting, fishing, bird watching, gardening, and the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Gonsky of Burlington; children, Ruth Gonsky of Oak Creek, Janet (David) Wenman of Burlington, and Eric (Lenette) Gonsky of Union Grove; grandchildren, Rachel and Amber Wenman, Hannah and Ashlee Gonsky, and Jessica Stevens; and sisters, Laurel of Pleasant Prairie and Sharon Gonsky of Tampa, Fla. He is further survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Deane, Walter Jr., and Dale; and by a sister, Rosemary.
Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 198 Westridge Avenue, Burlington, on Thursday, September 8, 2005, at 7 p.m. with Pastor Allen Zahn officiating. Burial will take place at United Presbyterian Cemetery in Dover on Friday at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at St. John's Lutheran Church on Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. Memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association have been suggested.
