Thomas E. Hansen, 80, of Clinton, Iowa, died Thursday, January 18, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 22, at Prince of Peace Parish, St. Mary's Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Pape Funeral Home where a vigil service will be held at 2:45 p.m. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.
Thomas was born June 19, 1926, in Clinton, the son of Arthur and Mary Mae Breen Hansen. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1944. Tom served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Following the war Tom attended Iowa State College. Tom married Mary "Cookie" McClimon on June 30, 1951, at St. Mary's Church in Clinton. Tom owned and operated M & T Construction in Clinton for over 40 years. He retired in 1989. Tom was a member of the AMVETS and the Fulton Country Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing bridge.
Tom is survived by his wife, Cookie; five children, Thomas J. Hansen, of Ames, Iowa, Timothy (Bernie) Hansen, of Seabring, Fla., Mary Ann (Jerry) Hyatt, of Stockton, Calif., John G. (Jane) Hansen, of Overland Park, Kan., and James P. Hansen, of Rochester, N,Y.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael, in 1986, a brother, Art, and a sister, Betty.
