George W. Pringle, 67, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Saturday. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Pringle of the home; daughters, Carol Griffith of Albuquerque, and Mary Beth Goforth of Antioch, CA; four grandchildren, Tiffany and Justin Bryant, and Scott and Kevin Goforth; and four sisters, Mary Jane Bisson of Clinton, IA; Peggy Lawrence of Fr. Meyers, FL; Jean Bisson of Clinton, IA; and June Sullens of Clinton, IA. Mr. Pringle was a member of John XXIII Catholic Community. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a jet fighter pilot with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was a Colonel in the NM State Defense Force and also a member of the Quiet Birdmen; a member of Masonic Lodge #75, AF and AM, and a member of York Rite, Ballut Abyad Shrine. He was a Pipe Major of the Ballut Abyad Shrine Pipe Band for 15 years. Many pipers in the Albuquerque area received their first lessons from George Pringle. He led the band diligently during many city and state benefits. His hobbies included making handcrafted bagpipes, hunting and hot air ballooning and was one of the first licensed balloonists in Albuquerque. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd., NE, with Fr. Arkad Biczak, Celebrant. Interment will follow at The National Cemetery in Santa Fe at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.
