Steven L. Rueschenberg, 65, of Burkburnett, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

A Christian Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at St. Jude’s Thaddeus Catholic Church of Burkburnett, with the family receiving friends at 6 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at St. Jude’s Thaddeus Catholic Church of Burkburnett with Father Joseph Lim officiant. Rite of Committal will follow at Burkburnett Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.

Steven was born on March 30, 1952 in Watertown, South Dakota to Laverne and Helen (Richter) Rueschenberg. On May 6, 1972, he married Sue Thyen in Waverly, South Dakota. He served our country proudly in the United States Air Force. Steven was a member of St. Jude’s Thaddeus Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a longtime LCDC serving in counseling and treatment in the North Texas area. Steven was a sports enthusiast and an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Laverne Rueschenberg; his brother, Pat Rueschenberg; and his granddaughter, Aurora Rueschenberg.

He is survived by his mother, Helen Rueschenberg of Watertown, South Dakota; his loving wife, Sue Rueschenberg of Burkburnett; two sons, Mike Rueschenberg and wife Tanya of Windthorst, and Steven Rueschenberg and wife Lacy of Honolulu, Hawaii; his daughter, Megan Zittell and wife Toni of Burkburnett; three sisters, Pam Albers of Flandreau, South Dakota, LouAnn Clancy of Anaheim, California; and Sue Brandsrud of Watertown, South Dakota; and eight grandchildren.

For those desiring, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd., Wichita Falls, TX 76310; or to St. Jude’s Thaddeus Catholic Church, 600 Davy Dr, Burkburnett, TX 76354.
