Ila Jean Richter, 83, 17 1st St. S.W., died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, in her home.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev. James Bream officiating. Music will be provided by the Immaculate Conception Church Choir.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Watertown. Pallbearers will be Josh and Chris Helle, Wade Hartman, Gary Horrocks, Patrick Strofus, Terry Brekke and Dick Vohlken.
Visitation will be today (Friday) from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. in the Wight and Comes Funeral Chapel. Visitation will continue Saturday prior to services in the church.
Ila Jean Richter, the daughter of Ole and Olive (Thoe) Brekke was born April 29, 1920, in Wallace. She grew up in Wallace where she attended school and worked at Fairway, the local grocery store. She then moved to Watertown in 1943.
She married Herman Helle Jan. 3, 1945, in Watertown and three children were born to this union. She was employed in sales at Montgomery Ward. Mr. Helle died Nov. 15, 1973. She retired in 1978, after 35 years of employment. She married Al Richter Sept. 29, 1979, in Watertown where they continued to live. Mr. Richter died May 23, 1981.
She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and St. Louise Circle. She enjoyed her home and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by one son, Michael Helle.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeanne Wagner of Sioux Falls; her son, Patrick Helle and his wife Pam of Watertown; one sister, Elaine Nelson of Greeley, Colo.; one brother, Gerald Brekke and his wife Joann of San Jose, Calif.; four sisters-in-law, Arlene Brekke and Alice Helle of Watertown, Betty McDaniel and her husband Con of Capitol City, Mo., and Carol Helle of Seattle; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dodie Michaels of Watertown.
