Private Mass of Christian Burial for 74 year old Marlys Goldbeck will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Celebrant of Mass was Father Brian Oestreich. Special music will be provided by Jennifer Wittnebel, organist and Allison Goldbeck, Pianist playing “The Rose”. Honorary casket bearers will be Darrel Mikkelson, Jim Tribitt, Dallas Croatt, Dylan Croatt, Cody Skogan, Kale Skogan and Kelly Vanderwall.

The concluding service and burial will be at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.

Marlys Sharon Tribitt was born on January 11, 1946 in Watertown, SD to parents Edward and Loretta (Richter) Tribitt. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake, SD. She attended country school through 8th grade, then attended Strandburg SD high school and graduated in 1965. She moved to Minneapolis where she worked various jobs. She was united in marriage to Larry Goldbeck on December 19, 1970, in Watertown, SD. Their marriage was blessed on June 13, 1980 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church by Father Bernard Steiner. Following their marriage the couple lived in Chaska, MN before moving to Madison in Sept. 1971. She soon found work at the State Bank where she was employed until 1974. Following the birth of their second son, she stayed home to raise her family and to help run Goldbeck Salvage.

In 1986, she started working at the Madison Healthcare Service as a certified nursing assistant. She was employed there for 22 ½ years retiring in 2008 for health reasons. She found much fulfillment taking care of the elderly and visiting with them.

Marlys enjoyed reading, puzzles, bingo, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.

Death came to Marlys on December 20, 2020. She had reached the age of 74 years.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael Goldbeck of Burnsville, MN and Brad (Heidi) Goldbeck of Delano, MN and two granddaughters, Allison and Brianna.

Her siblings Lloyd (Robin) Tribitt, of Ventura CA, Alyce (Preston) Skarloken of Volga, SD, Mildred (Mervin) Mikkelson ofToronto, SD, Kathyrn (Bob) Tolrud of Brookings, SD, Harold (Pat) Tribitt of Revillo, SD, Robert (Diane) Tribitt of Rosemount, MN, Janice Switzenberg of Revillo, SD and Karen (Mike) Schuelke of Madison, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Loretta Tribitt, her husband, Larry, and her brother, James. Blessed be her memory.
