Jack Streit, Ex-Algonan, Is Heart Victim

Word was received here about 2 a. m. Tuesday of the sudden death Monday in Denver, Colo., of Jack Streit, former Algonan, in his late forties.

He is the nephew of Mrs. H. M. Smith and Matt Streit, Algona, both of whom went to Ft. Dodge Tuesday, where they were joined by Mrs. Teresa (Maurice) Cullen and proceeded to Denver. Another aunt is Mary Streit of Ft. Dodge.

Funeral services and burial took place this morning (Thursday) in Denver.

Mr. Striet was bowling and collapsed of a heart attack.

Born at Mitchell, S. D., and the youngest of five children, Jack came to Algona at the age of two and he and his brother and sisters were reared in the home of their grandfather, Anton Streit.

Jack was a veteran of World War II in which he was a commissioned officer. He attended Loyola University, Chicago, and was graduated from Iowa University at Iowa City with a degree in engineering. He was employed by the Department of Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Survivors include his widow, Irene, and three children, James, John and Charlotte. One brother, Dr. Harold Streit of Chelsea Mass. survives, as do three sisters, Betty Streit, Ft. Dodge, Helen Davis, Cocoa, Fla., and Mrs. William Healey, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
