William T. (Pat) Lynch Sr., age 70 of Fort Dodge, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the Gunderson Funeral Home, and 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with the Rev. Chris Van Ooosbree officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in the Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a vigil for the deceased at 7 p.m. at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
He is survived by three sons. Kevin Lynch and his wife Lisa of San Jose, Calif., William T. (Tom) Lynch Jr. and his wife Kathryn of Littleton, Colo., and Patrick Lynch of southern California; two grandchildren, Alexander Lynch (Tom's son) and Sydney Lynch (Kevin's daughter); cousins, Helen Carolyn and Ronald Moore, all of Waterloo. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Bernice Lynch, and a son, Dennis Lynch.
William T. (Pat) Lynch Sr. was born June 2, 1930 in Scottsbluff, Neb. He graduated from West Waterloo High School in 1948 and served eight years in the United States Navy, in which two years were of active duty and six years of Naval Reserves. In 1959, he married Valda Evans in Waverly. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Loras College in Dubuque and a master's degree in history from the University of Northern Iowa. For 40 years he taught in the Iowa Public Schools and 31 of those years were at Fort Dodge Senior High. Pat was active in youth sports and various extra curricular school functions. He was known as the voice of Fort Dodge Senior High Marching Band. Pat had a life long love of music which included his own big band, playing clarinet and saxophone in many of the area orchestras.
He was a member of Corpus Christi Church.
