Alvin R. Buehner, 76, of Ravenwood Health Care Center, formerly of St. Mary's Villa, died at the care center Sunday, Jan. 23, of natural causes.
He was born May 17, 1917, in Dunkerton, son of Christian I. and Mamie L. Carlton Buehner He married Mildred Chase on May 18, 1946, in Minnesota. She died June 4, 1975. He married Fonda Mae Wellner July 30, 1976, in Hazleton. She died July 14, 1980.
Mr. Buehner was a fork lift operator for Chamberlain Manufacturing Co., for more than 33 years, retiring in 1979. He was a U. Army veteran of World War II.
Survived by: two daughters, Judith Nie of Waterloo and Patricia Hannan of Ankeny; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: a brother, Raymond; and a sister, Elsie Buehner.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Oppold-Hagarty Funeral Home, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
