Gayle Kerkman (Born 5/12/1939), aged 83, went peacefully to be with God and her husband Roger in the early morning hours of March 22, 2023.
Gayle was known for many things, but none more important to her than being a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a devout catholic as a founding parishioner at The Church of the Resurrection since its inception nearly 40 years ago.
Gayle’s journey started in Wisconsin, but she soon became a Buckeye, while making her forever home in the Columbus area, when they relocated to Westerville, Ohio for Roger to work at JC Penney’s.
Gayle’s mission in life was to support her family, which she did with pride, never missing an event for any of her 4 Children, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. Whether it was a baseball game in Illinois or a horse show at the Hartford Fair, Gramma Gayle (a/k/a G, or GG) was there. Her spirit was strong right up to the end and it was clear that she wasn’t going anywhere until she was able to spend time with her newest great grandbabies, one of which arrived only 2 weeks before her passing.
We will look forward to a glass of red wine on ice with Gramma Gayle again one day in a better place.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roger Kerkman. Survived by her sons Doug (Polly), Mike,(Misty) & Scott (Jenn) Kerkman, daughter Barb Fox, grandchildren Anthony (Lesley) Kerkman, Justin (Elise) Fox, Brad (Megan) Kerkman, Brooke (Kevin) Kuntz, Emilie (Jay) Stadtfeld, Alex (Justin) Moore, Caleb, Ethan & Degan Kerkman, and great-grandchildren Hannah & Sophia Kerkman, Amora & Josephine Fox, Sydnie Stadtfeld, and Lincoln Kuntz.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023, with family receiving friends from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., New Albany, OH 43054. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in loving memory of Gayle for the future building campaign at Resurrection. Donations can be mailed to Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., New Albany, OH 43054.
