Bette J. Chase, 72, of rural Jesup, died Monday, June 21, at Peoples Memorial Hospital, Independence, following a brief illness.

She was born July 7, 1926, in Oelwein, daughter of Eslie and Esther Kunkle Finch. She married Richard M. Chase on April 4, 1945, in Oelwein.

Survived by: her husband; two daughters, Penny Bakel of Waterloo and Linda Brindle of Oceanside, Calif.; two sons, Richard M. Jr. of Cedar Rapids and Mark W. of Independence; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Howard Finch; and a sister, Helen Beier.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at White Funeral Home, Jesup. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and before services Thursday at the funeral home.
