Mrs. Henry Vos, 75, died suddenly at her home at 523 McHenry Street Thursday night. Mrs. Vos, who had been suffering from pneumonia, was thought to be well on the way to recovery when she was suddenly stricken.
Mrs. Vos, whose maiden name was Josephine Plate, was born March 12, 1864, in an old stone house which stood on the site of the home where she died. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Casper Plate. Her girlhood was spent in Burlington, and she was married to Henry Vos on May 5, 1891, in St. Mary's church by the late Rev. Theodore Jacobs. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Vos took up their residence at 523 McHenry street, and Mrs. Vos continued to live there following her husband's death on Jan. 9, 1935.
Surviving are seven children, A. H. Vos, Kansasville; Mrs. Stanley Szydlowski, Burlington; Roman Vos, Ed Vos and Cletus Vos, Antioch, Ill.; Mrs. Elizabeth Oldenburg, Burlington. and Mrs. George Feireisen, Minneapolis. She also is survived by one brother, Henry Plate, San Diego, Calif., and 20 granchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a. m. in St. Mary's church.
