On Saturday afternoon, last, about three o'clock, the sad intelligence spread through our quiet village and cast a shadow of gloom over the whole community, that Mrs. Frank Schemmer had just dropped dead at her home on the corner of Geneva and Jefferson streets, while aboutthe house attending to her usual household duties. Investigation proved that the report was only too true.. and the faithful wife and loving mother, who but a few moments before was in the full flush of health and happiness, lay in the cold embrace of death surrounded by sorrowing loved ones.
Mrs. Schemmer had always been an active, healthy woman, except for sinking spells or fits, but was complaining of a severe head-ache on Saturday morning; and remained in her room until nearly noon when she arose and took her dinner with the family, and was about the house as usual from that time up to the moment of her sudden death.
She was good, patient mother; a cheerful, faithful and loving wife; a kind and obligating neighbor-always ready to render aid and assistance in case of sickness and distress, and was greatly esteemed for her many virtues of head and heart.
She was a highly respected and leaves a grief-stricken husband and nine sorrowing children, the oldest child being about fifteen years of age.
Mrs. Schemmer was in her 40th year, and the cause of her death is supposed to have been heart disease. Dr. Hicks was immediately summoned, but upon arrival at the house her heart had ceased to beat and she was pronounced dead.
The bereaved husband and children and sorrowing relatives have the earnest sympathy of the entire community in this terrible affliction.
The funeral will be held at St. Mary's Catholic church in this village this (Tuesday) morning at 9 o'clock.
