Knowing that his son, Frank F. Schemmer, was seriously ill at his home at Fremont, Neb., Frank Schemmer was not surprised when he received news of his death last Monday morning. Frank F. had been in poor health the past two years and in bed for six weeks suffering from pernicious anemia. His body was brought to Burlington, arriving here Tuesday evening, accompanied by his wife and son, Vincent, and Mrs. Wm. F. Gill and taken to the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schemmer. The funeral took place from St. Mary's Catholic Church yesterday morning, Rev. J. A. Van Treeck conducting the services. Interment in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery.
Frank F. Schemmer was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schemmer and was born in Burlington July 28, 1869. When a boy of 17 he went west and the west has been his home since. He resided at Rock Valley and Sheldon, Iowa, and in South Dakota before going to Nebraska and in South Dakota he took up a claim which his widow still owns. As a young man he learned the barber's trade which he followed most of the time.
In 1894 he was united in marriage with Miss Jessie Boggess at Mt. Vernon, S.D., and she with the one son survives. He is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Schemmer, and two brothers and five sisters, as follows: Fridolin Schemmer, Watsonville, Cal.; Philip Schemmer, Chicago; Sr. M. Theodorine, Chicago; Mrs. Wm. F. Gill, Mrs. Albert Plate, and Mrs. Frank Mueller, of this city, and Sr. M. Raineria, Green Bay.
