Death claimed a former resident of Burlington when Phillip W. Schemmer, 75, passed away at the Burlington Memorial Hospital early Sunday morning, March 6, following a brief illness. Mr. Schemmer was a resident of Chicago prior to his death.

Born in Burlington Feb. 18, 1874, to the marriage of Frank Schemmer and Mary Salbreiter the deceased grew to manhood in this vicinity, leaving here some forty years ago. For the past many years he was in business for himself in Chicago.

The remains will be at the McCarthy Funeral Home in this city until funeral services; which will be held at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning, March 9, with burial in St. Mary's cemetery. Father Mark Mueller of Plain, Wis., a nephew of the deceased, will officiate.

Surviving Mr. Schemmer are four sisters, Mrs. John McCarthy Sr., Burlington; Mrs. Frank Mueller, Milwaukee; Sister Theodorin, Chicago, and Sister Raineria of Green Bay. The deceased was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers.

Research notes for Philip

Philip married Olive McInerney in 1908.
Together in Chicago - along with son - in 1910.
He's still in Chicago in 1918 (WWI) but I feel the divorce/separation has occurred as he list his closest relative as son, James, living in Ontario, Canada.
Unknown 1920... I have individually searched the address listed on 1918 draft card.
1930 finds him with a new wife. I found SOME, but not MUCH info for her.
1940 finds him alone again. Tillie died in 1933. This clears up confusion on obit.
