Mrs. Frank Schemmer

 

Mrs. Frank Schemmer died at her home on Geneva street about eight o'clock Tuesday evening at the age 80 years. She had been ill about two years.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 o'clock from St. Mary's church and interment will be in St. Mary's cemetery.

Susan Robers was born September 24, 1852, in Lyons, She was the daughter of Anthony Robers and Theresa Miller. On October 24, 1885, she was united in marriage to Frank Schemmer and assumed the responsibility of rearing his nine children whose own mother had died when the youngest was only nine months old.

Seven of these step-children now survive Mrs. Schemmer. They are Mrs. Elizabeth Gill and Mrs. Frank Mueller, Burlington, Fred Schemmer of California, Phil Schemmer of Chicago, Sister M. Theodorine of Chicago, Sister M. Raineria of Green Bay, and Mrs. Albert Plate of Milwaukee. There are also ten grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Joe Schaefer and Miss Lena Robers of Burlington.

Mr. Schemmer preceded his wife in death, having passed away in 1919.

Mrs. Schemmer had been a faithful member of the Christian Mothers' society of St. Mary's.

MRS. SUSAN SCHEMMER DIES AT BURLINGTON
Mrs. Susan Schemmer, 80, widow of Frank Schemmer, died at 7:43 o'clock last evening at her home, 550 Geneva street, this city. She was born Sept. 24, 1852, at Lyons, Wis., being the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Robers. She was married Oct. 24, 1885, to Frank Sehemmer, who died about 14 years ago.
Surviving are seven children and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Schaefer and Miss Lena Robers, both of Burlington.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:45 o'clock in St. Mary's church. Solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. George Schemmer, her nephew, assisted by the Rev. Salbreiter of Mukwonago, and the Rev. Mauerer, assistant pastor of St. Mary's church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's cemetery here.
