Dorothy Ann "Dot" Mikleton

 

Dorothy Ann "Dot" Mueller Mikleton, 97, of Rockford passed away Friday, October 5, 2017. Born August 22, 1920, in Burlington, Wisconsin, to Frank and Josephine (Schemmer) Mueller. Graduated from St. Mary's High School in Burlington in 1938. She came to Rockford in 1939 to enter St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1942 as an RN. Dot married Victor J. "Woody" Mikleton on August 26, 1942 at St. Mary's Church in Burlington; they were married by her brother, Rev. Mark J. Mueller. Besides private duty for a few years, she worked 20 years at Rockford Drop Forge as an Occupation Health Nurse retiring in 1982. After retiring, Dot and Woody enjoyed traveling, both in Europe and USA. They spent some winter months in either Texas or Arizona. She was a member of St. Anne Society and the Belles of Cathedral of St. Peter. Also, St. Anthony Hospital Alumni Association and Presence St. Anne Auxiliary. She spent her final days at Riverside Terrace in Beloit.

She is survived by her sons, David (Mary Martha) Mikleton, of Phoenix, Arizona and Peter (Lois) Mikleton of Cherry Valley; daughter, Nancy J. Mikleton of Oregon City, Oregon; grandchildren, Christopher (Kim Marie) Mikleton of Denver, Nathan (April) Mikleton of Arizona and Tanisha Larsen of Roscoe; great-grandchildren, Darian and Dakota Larsen, Vivian, Aurick and Jilian Mikleton; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Victor on May 31, 2002, parents, siblings, Fr. Mark, Paul, Mary, Mona and Helen; 6 sisters-in-laws, and 5 brothers-in-law.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Cathedral of St. Peter. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the church. Burial in St. Mary/St. James Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cathedral of St. Peter. Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, assisted the family. Dorothy Mueller, Victor Mikleton Wed in Burlington

In a simple ceremony Dorothy Mueller of 522 Pine street and Victor Mikleton of Rockford. Ill., were married at St. Mary's church this morning at 9 oclock. The bride's brother, Rev. Mark Mueller, assistant pastor of St. Mary's in Racine, said the nuptial mass.

The former Miss Mueller wore an eggshell wool jersey suit with olive green accessories. The suit had a cardigan neckline, three-quarter length sleeves and a plaited skirt. She wore an olive green hat over which fell a veil which came over her face. She wore a corsage of green cypridium orchids.

Her only attendant was her sister, Mary, who wore a suit similar to the bride's, but was seal brown. Her accessories were of the same shade of brown. She wore a corsage of yellow tea roses.

The bride was given away by her father, Frank Mueller. The best man was the groom's

brother-in-law, Vincent Gelascis, of Rockford, Ill. On the main altar of St. Mary's were white gladioli arranged by the bride's sister, Mary.

The bride the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mueller; the bridegroom, the son of Mrs. George Mikleton of Rockford. A breakfast for the immediate family was served right after the ceremony. A dinner for the same people was served at noon at the bride's home. A reception followed the dinner for friends of the family.

Th couple will leave tonight for a week's stay in northern Wisconsin. They will then make their home in Rockford, where the groom is employed as a machinist at the Rockford Drop Forge.

Out-of-town guests included Mrs. George Mikleton, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Gelascis and Barbara, Mrs. Kensel Lu and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Andersen, all of Rockford.
