Mrs. Theo. Richter Death claimed another pioneer German resident of this section last Thursday when Mrs. Theo. Richter, who has lived in the town of Burlington since 1845, was called to her reward. Had she lived until July 24, she would have been 93 years of age and she had always enjoyed good health, her final sickness being of only three days duration. Funeral services were held at St. Alphons' Catholic church at New Munster Monday morning, Rev. Wurm officiating and her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery there.
Catherine Kablitz was born in Germany July 24, 1824, and came to this country and to Burlington with her parents in 1845. Here two years later she was united in marriage with Mr. Richter and soon after they purchased the farm which is now occupied by her son, A. B. Richter, and which has been her home for 56 years. Her husband died some twenty-five years ago and she is now survived by the following six children: Henry and A. B., Burlington; Wm. and John, Rock Valley, Iowa; Theo., Brighton; Mrs. Wm. Luke, Wheatland. Mrs. Richter is also survived by forty-nine grandchildren and sixty-six great-grandchildren. A large circle of friends extend sympathy to the bereaved ones.
