Robert F. Robers, 90, Burlington, died Dec. 27, 2006, at Memorial Hospital of Burlington.
He was born April 21, 1916, in Wheatland Township to the late Bernard and Regina (Richter) Robers.
He spent his early life in Randall Township attending Bassett Grade School and St. Alphonsus Catholic School.
He worked at Lois Feed Co. for eight years and then entered the U.S. Army in 1942, serving until December of 1945. He spent two years in the South Pacific as a master supply staff sergeant. He was then employed at Murphy Products Co. in Burlington, retiring in 1981.
He married Ethel Ketterhagen Aug. 21, 1943, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dover. She preceded him in death on Feb. 4, 1990. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Order of Foresters for 50 years and VFW Post 2823.
Survivors include his children, Sandra Robers, Hawaii, Thomas (Nancy) Robers, Appleton, Jane (Steve) Moore, Cary, Ill.; grandchildren, Jessica Tindall, Erin and Robert Moore, Ben Robers and Catherine and Tricia Peterson; brothers, Edmund "Mick" (Mae) Robers and Richard (Hilde) Robers; sister, Bernice Elderbrook.
He was further preceded in death by his sister, Margaret (Carl) Grulich; brother-in-law, Ed Elderbrook; sister-in-law, Pat Robers.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Jan. 3, at St. Charles Catholic Church. The Rev. Steve Amann officiated. Burial followed in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, Burlington, handled arrangements.
Memorials to St. Charles Catholic Church are suggested.
