A funeral mass for Barney J. Crowley, Hollywood realtor and civic leader, will be said at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Church of the Little Flower.
Crowley, 50, died Tuesday night in Veterans Hospital, Coral Gables. He had been ill for several months.
Crowley was a Hollywood resident since 1946. He was past president of the Hollywood-South Broward Board of Realtors and was active in state and national real estate groups. He had a business office at 2130 Hollywood Blvd. for 18 years.
From 1946 to 1951, Crowley worked as a farmer and construction foreman in South Broward. In 1951, he became a real estate salesman and was made partner in the firm of Copas-Crowley in 1954.
He was selected as "Realtor of the Year" in 1956 and elected president Of the Hollywood-South Broward Board of Realtors in 1958. At the time of his death he was serving on its board of directors.
Crowley was a 1956 graduate of the University of Miami with a degree in business administration. He served as a surgical technician in the 318th General Hospital, Pacific Theater of Operations, from 1943 to 1946.
He was a member of the Church of the Little Flower Holy Name Society and recently was installed as grand knight of the Father Monahan Council No. 4851, Knights of Columbus.
After the funeral mass at Little Flower, burial will be in Southern Memorial Park, North Miami.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Wintter Funeral Chapel. A rosary service will be conducted at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the chapel, 1050 N Federal Hwy.
