Gilbert J. Kerkman, 81, Route 7, Burlington, died Monday (July 11, 1983) at Memorial Hospital in Burlington.
The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John (Rose Hofner) Kerkman, he was born on July 22, 1902 in the Town of Wheatland. He spent his early life and attended schools in New
Munster.
He married Armella Rose Busch on Feb. 6, 1929. in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. New Munster. The couple operated a farm in Slades Corners after their marriage.
He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church and the Holy Name Society of the parish, Catholic Order of Foresters, Wheatland Fire Department and the Pure Milk Association.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Walter and Norman, both of Slades Corners; three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Ella Mae) Butler and Elaine Kerkman, both of Slades Corners, and Mrs. Glenn (Shirley) Borst, Pell Lake; five brothers, Victor, Claude and Ralph, all of New Munster, and Andrew and John, both of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Cordella Lois, New Munster, and Mrs. Florence Kiekenbusch, Burlington; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, a brother and a granddaughter.
KERKMAN-Funeral services for the late Gilbert J. Kerkman, of Rt. 7, Burlington, WI, will be held on Thurs., at 10:30 A.M. from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, New Munster, WI. Interment in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 9 P.M. on Wed., at McCarthy-Koening Funeral Home, 101 E. State St., Burlington, WI. Rosary service at 8 P.M. on Wed.
