Marilyn R. McCourt, 77, of Burlington, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee. She was born Aug. 16, 1932 in Lyons to Lloyd "Hap" and Leonore "Lee" (nee Prasch) Miller. She spent her early life in Lyons and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Burlington. On Oct. 16, 1954 she was united in marriage to Charles "Jack" McCourt at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lyons. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington. Jack preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1997.
Marilyn worked as a secretary for the Burlington School District and for many years at Burlington Memorial Hospital in Emergency Room Admitting. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She was very active in her church and community, a C.C.D. teacher and a Brownie Leader. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed bowling and playing cards and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Sandy (Paul) Knaust of New Berlin, Kim (Brian) Spencer of Goodman, Jackie McCourt of Burlington, Todd (Nancy) McCourt of Oconto Falls, Jon McCourt of Burlington, 6 grandchildren, Kelly (Benjamin) Hayes, Molly (Andrew) Bonjean, John (Casey) Spencer, Andrew Spencer, Elizabeth Spencer, Allyson Knaust, 2 great-grandchildren, Gillian and Iris Spencer. She is further survived by sister-in-law, Kathleen (Richard) McCarthy, brothers-in-law, James (Jane) McCourt, Art McCourt, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Thomas Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 7:00PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Burlington with Rev. Jim Volkert officiating. Burial will take place at St. Charles Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Tuesday, June 8th from 3 – 6:15PM at the funeral home. Memorials have been suggested to St. Mary's School.
