Herbert H. Lois, age 90, of Burlington, WI, passed away January 9, 2003 at Memorial Hospital of Burlington. Born May 23, 1912 in Kenosha County, WI to John and Dorothy (nee: Roanhaus) Lois. His early life was spent in Wheatland Township on the family farm. He attended school in New Munster then later served during World War II in the United States Army-Air Force from 1942 to 1945. On September 23, 1943 in St. Alphonsus Church in New Munster he was united in marriage to Lucille Richter, who preceded him in death October 6, 1954. Following marriage he resided in Brighton Twsp and later moved to Burlington where he has been a resident since 1973. Herbert worked as a mill worker for Burlington Consumer Co-op. He is a member of St. Alphonsus Church in New Munster. Herbert enjoyed ice fishing, bowling and playing cards.
Survivors include son, John (Mary) Lois and daughter, Katherine (Jerry) Alby, all of Burlington. Grandchildren; Renee (Shankar) Iyer of Chicago, Jeremy (Kathleen) Alby of Oshkosh, Rachelle (Gregg) Goldstein of Kenosha, Robin Alby of San Francisco, Brenda (Todd) Piskula of Hortonville, Sarah Lois of San Francisco, Katie (Matt Williams) Lois of Madison and Paul Lois of Whitewater, Great Grandchildren; Garret Alby, Gavin Goldstein, and Kayla Piskula, brother, Andrew (Lucille) Lois of Burlington, sisters; Clara (Ralph) Kerkman of Burlington and Mary Robers of Springfield, in-laws; John (Ruth) Wiemer, Shirley Meyer and Raymond (Marion) Richter, all of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Alvin Lois, and a sister Eleanore Kerkman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 13, 2003 at 7:30 P.M. with Rev. Tom Biersack officiating. Burial will take place on Tuesday, January 14, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Monday, January 13, from 3 to 7 P.M. at the church. Memorials have been suggested to St. Alphonsus Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
